January is two-thirds over in a blink of an eye. The thought that I've already been in form 1 for nearly five months is weird. An academic year is about 10 months long, and it is now half over. I have decided to do a comparison between junior and senior school.
If you ask me now, which is better, junior school (js) or senior school (ss), I'd answer js for sure. But putting behind the sweet memories of js, ss has many good things too. Ss provides us with the freedom that I longed for, to begin with. For example, eating out is what almost every js girl anticipates most. And we get to stay at school if we want, whereas js takes measures to ensure that we spend enough rest time at home and asks us to return home ASAP.
Another fun thing about senior school is that activities are much more interesting. Perhaps the merciful staff noticed how tiring the exams make us, they always organize ECA days for us. On those days, we go back to school just for two hours to do something like archery, hockey, handball etc. They often host ECAs that take up lesson time, which makes sure that every one of us has enough exposure. Moreover, the activities are much more challenging, for example, volleyball practises have become longer and tougher, and there are more talented people so that you improve faster learning with them.
So now, what is so special about js that makes me answer so surely that I prefer it? Well, the contented life. They don't label us with our academic results. They don't want us to constantly compete with one another. I'm that kind of person who crumbles under the tiniest amount of stress, so under an environment without stress, I am more likely to excel. I was once told that js's goal is mainly to make us happy and educate us with the most important thing -- christian/moral education. So growing up there is pretty fun, although there have been times when I was isolated and bullied, but everything made me so much stronger. It basically holds all my memories.
Also, it's so much more homely than ss. Ss looks more like a university or something. The design of js is so casual and somehow provides us with this amazing and happy learning evironment. I honestly had no stress studying there, only when I entered a class in ss with tons of academic geniuses did I have stress. Even though throughout my six js years, we moved twice, even though the building which contained my oldest memories is now demolished, it still allows me to recall my earliest memories as a innocent, clueless kid. It has become like my home now, and I will always take pride in being one of the graduates of it. It has seriously exposed me to so many different experiences and taught me so much. I really feel like the people in js are the main reasons why I'm still alive and motivated now.
Even though I am a person who lingers and dwells in the past, I don't hate ss as much as I expected since it does provide us with fun challenges and stuff. But I will not forget where I come from. I will not forget my early days as a kid roaming around the school cluelessly.
